Out & About

Are you a fan of the current TV production ‘Banished’ or just fascinated by how Australia was founded?  With the help of Christine Henri, you can learn about the Roses from the Heart project, and the embroidered bonnets that she has organised as a lasting memorial to the women and children shipped off from Britain and Ireland to that far land.

Magna Carta Quilt 2015Alison Garner from the Magna Carta Quilt Association tells us more of the blocks that are being made together with a quick history lesson and an insight into the research needed for such things as the colours being used at the time.

English Paper Piecing Finishing quiltIf you have lots of lovely hexagons sewn together find out from Nancy Adamek how to finish your English Paper Pieced quilt. See how she does this by adding borders and then applique the hexagons on to it.

Confetti Applique Linda SewardLinda Seward creates a delightful picture using Inktense pencils (plus a dollop of aloe vera gel!) and some tiny scraps of fabric in her confetti applique.
Quick question – what does Linda use her turtle for?
(If you want another idea for using similar small pieces take a look at Valerie’s suggestion in her Pizza Topping workshop).
