Advent Pyramid boxes by Gail Penberthy

These are delightful little advent pyramids from Gail that can accommodate small items and decorate your home. They could also make an ideal alternative to Christmas crackers, tree or table decorations. While Gail has used lots of different fabrics (what a great way to use up your scraps!) she also thinks this project would look great in a themed colour to match your home decor.  Watch Now+

The pattern is available in the shop to buy Buy Now+

Rainbow Counted embroidery stitch work with Kate Barlow

Kate Barlow guides you through the counted  embroidery stitch. Its’ a blackwork stitch which is perfect for beginners and maybe those who love cross-stitch. She also  talks you through how to start your work including why it is best to work with a hoop and an amazing tip on what to do with the starting knot; She also talks about the stranded threads she likes to use,. Here it includes one that is sparkly and she suggests you might like to keep an eye on the tension between the two very different threads.  Watch Now+

“The Rainbow” embroidery kit

Kate also has a kit available of her super sparkly rainbow, that is worked in traditional counted blackwork patterns, – blackwork doesn’t always have to be black!

The 9 different patterns are stitched on a 28ct evenweave fabric using lovely bright cotton and metallic threads. You also have tiny sequins to add for that extra bit of twinkle. The kit comes with everything you need to complete the Rainbow, including a full colour step by step instruction booklet with pattern charts. You’ll just need an 8” or 10” embroidery frame and embroidery scissors. Buy Now+

Double patchwork binding technique with Sallieann Harrison

This double binding technique gives you such a lovely finish on the front of your quilt (or project). It is straightforward under Sallieann’s guidance. She gives you measurements for both 2 1/2″ and 3″ binding (which is cut straight, not on the bias). She also talks you through the mitred corners and has a really neat tip on how to join the ends back with a mitred join. The final stage of anchoring the binding when you’ve turned it onto the front of your quilt, is also done using the sewing machine.  Watch Now+
