With all the sport on TV this summer, we thought you might like a little escape and with all the rain we have at the moment, what better excuse do you need for some sewing – although none of us here need much encouragement to sew!. So, until the end of the month, we have a special membership offer for you – 4 months for the price of 3.

TO CLAIM YOUR FREE MONTH all you have to do is click here to purchase a 3 month membership from the Shop before 30th June 2016. Then send an email, quoting the unique code MMP01 to justhandsontv@googlemail.com and we will add an extra month onto your viewing privileges..

Midsummer Mystery

More Midsummer Madness

How about taking a look at the Midsummer Mystery:   although we made these films a while ago now, it is still proving popular and some of you we know have made several!  It’s made with 2 ½” strips – so get cutting strips from your stash or dig out that jelly roll – OR be tempted to buy a new jelly roll at the National Quilt Championships at Sandown that is being run this weekend ! (see Event detials below )  Watch Now+

Binding your quilt with Valerie Nesbitt

 Workshops

Binding is the final stage of your project and now that more and more of us use the sewing machine and the walking foot the rule about a ¼” has changed. Valerie guides you through some of the things to think  about and why the seam allowance can be what-ever you want it to be!
AND  how about using a fancy stitch from your machine and possibly some variegated thread to complete the job in double quick time.  Watch Now+

Japanese Folded Cushion with Sue Rhodes

Japanese folded with a difference from Sue Rhodes – not only does Sue turn this traditional pattern into a large version but she also manages to use jelly roll strips  (or you could create these from your stash ) and like all good Japanese folded designs, you get two patterns for the price of one;  plus as the back is made with the front this becomes quilt-as-you-go as well.   Certainly worth giving it a go – as well as the cushion pattern, Sue has created a bedrunner pattern , but you could make more units and make a full size quilt in no time! Watch Now+

Show and Tell

Show and Tell

We do love it when a plan comes together – We’ve heard from one of our members, Beth. She’s just completed this quilt for her grandson using Janet Clare’s Nocturne fabrics which we had on the site a few months ago. She’s called it ‘Stars and Moons’. Her grandson is a Man City fan and was really delighted with this and the Blue  Moon, unbeknown to her, is their club song. She hand quilted with big stitch quilting and is very  pleased with the result. We agree with her that the fabric and design suit the fabric  – Well done Beth!!.
