Floral Cutwork from Kathleen Laurel-Sage

In this very comprehensive workshop Kathleen shares with you how to create cutwork using your sewing machine skills.  Kathleen loves to work with scraps of organza and water soluble fabric. She talks you through marking the design, the fabric placement of all those little scraps of organza. She has a great tip on how to avoid reversing the design that you have so carefully marked (!), making the quilting sandwich, thread selection, how to set the sewing machine, cutting and soldering.   Watch Now+

Bias Effect Cushion with Jennie Rayment

The bias effect can create very interesting elliptical shapes with ease.  Jennie starts off by showing you how easy it is to cut strips of fabric on the bias, with the help of your ruler. She then uses a simple fold technique to create the lovely shapes which can then be filled with decorative stitching. You can embellish these with the help of simple stitching, fancy stitching and/or decorative threads. Watch Now+

Satin Stitch Applique with Valerie Nesbitt

Machine applique is really very easy and a particular favourite with Valerie:   every sewing machine has a zig-zag stitch on it – no matter how old – and Valerie gives some helpful advice on how to use this to achieve a great satin stitch.
