BOOK OF THE MONTH:  Golden Glamour Gold Work Book by Kathleen Laurel Sage

Kathleen has also written this very informative new  book of small golden projects and it is our October Book of the Month . It has an introduction on what materials to use and how to use them followed by 11 varied projects for you to embroider and several designs for you to experiment on, with your new-found skills.

You can then become confident using some of the metal threads and cords that are associated with gold work. It will also allow you the freedom to experiment
with the modern materials of today. Once you discover that most materials are available to use, you can develop and combine them to produce your own unique slant on a traditional technique. If you are just starting out or want to experiment with traditional techniques, then this book is perfect for you.

As it’s our Book of the Month it also comes with FREE P&P in the UK during October Buy Now+

Tucked Up Band with Jennie Rayment

This idea for a textured strip comes from the Victorian era when they used it to fold ribbon. You can of course still do this today. The textured strip can be used for a wide range of embellishments from a choker, to Home Dec ideas like trimming a lampshade. You can also use it for dress straps or add texture to a bodice or a border of a quilt. And like all good ideas, it’s simple to make. Watch Now+
