Workshops
Valerie continues with her series on appliqué – this time the more modern approach of fused with straight stitch; she spent much of last weekend at the Festival Of Quilts selling patterns from the Don’t Look Now series that all use this modern style of appliqué and it’s really simple – you just need to be able to trace, iron/stick, cut out and iron/stick again!
Flying geese are always popular but here is one version where you just sew one seam with Jennie’s 3D flying geese.
Last week we revisited Karin’s Sew Simple Attic Windows and at the FOQ Valerie came across Karin’s latest book in the series – Sew Simple Hexi-flowers – available now in the shop this will quickly become a favourite with all those of you who like to hand sew and in particular English Paper Piecing.
Our Community
Don’t forget to check out the Community area of the website. This week, you can find out more on what Valerie found at the Festival in her Blog – including new products (which you’ll find in the shop) from Pauline Ineson; Angela Madden; Hilary Beattie and Jenny Rolfe and Chris Porter.
If you’ve missed any of the newsletters over the summer whilst you’ve been out and about, just look them up in the Newsletter archive; or if you’re looking for some ideas for the Bank Holiday weekend, have a look in the Events section for details of the shows and exhibitions that are on near you.
Reasons/excuses for buying Fabric: Reason no.4:
…It is useful for covering all empty surfaces where dust may otherwise settle (this one gets Valerie’s vote!)
