Interview
Today we meet Christine Porter who started off her working life as a nurse, but over the past 22 years has become an award winning quilter, international teacher and competition judge, and author of several books. We get to see some of her recent wonderful quilts from the Sensational Circles book (and we took the opportunity to film some workshops with her which will be on the site soon)
Workshops
You will recall that we interviewed Kate Crossley with her award-winning Clock (which is now in residence at the American Museum, in Bath) and some of the clock was made with acid-etched fabric. Well Kate is happy to share this technique with us, and has put together a great little starter kit in a brown bag so that you can ‘have a go’ at home too and is available in the shop.
Mary Gamester shows us how she uses lace as a mask with her transfer painted paper to create wonderful designs and frames; if you want to try this then the paints are available in the shop, and this idea is just one of the chapters in her lovely book, which we are featuring as the Book of the Month

Inspiration for Easter for the kids:
To get the most out of the site you do need to be a subscribed member (and our fixed term rates are now even better value) but not everything is behind the membership wall – for instance, did you see either of these:
Humbug Bag workshop with Valerie
or Jennie’s Hand Bag ….
Both are great and even the children can make them – they could be made ready as presents for their teachers at the end of next term! You’ll find all the Free Videos on the What’s Free Page.
If you want more inspiration for the children this Easter, use the quick links – this will give you both workshops you can do with them and for them.
Happy Sewing
