Meet Kate Crossley
Kate won the Quilting Creations section at Festival of Quilts 2014, which was sponsored by Vivebooks, with her amazing grandfather clock, and now you can enjoy the detail from the comfort of your armchair. Kate tells us of her inspiration and also shares some of her technique secrets.
Workshops
The end of January saw a couple of really great workshops – one from Valerie using up scraps and giving hints and tips on the difference between colour and tone and the other from Paula Doyle where she shows you a great technique for foundation piecing. This technique means that you don’t have any papers to tear away at the end – intrigued ?! then click here to watch it
Valerie has another easy-to-make quilt today called Take 5, which uses only 5 fabrics so a good chance to dive into your stash.

Book of the Month
This is the latest volume from Carolyn Forster – Hexagon Happenings – in which Carolyn shows how great the hexagon can be in jumbo size! She also has a co-ordinating set of templates so that you can cut the large pieces out with your rotary cutter. These can also be found in the Shop
(By the way – for those who love English Paper Piecing – did you catch her great little tip on how to cut several layers of fabric with scissors?) This has proved to be a very popular tip on the site, and across Facebook, since it went up.
Happy Sewing
Valerie & Jennie
