Meet Joanna Smith-Ryland
Valerie met up recently with Joanna Smith-Ryland who talked about her simply fabulous range of patchwork inspired bags. Her designs use Cathedral Window Patchwork and are inspired by beautiful Stained Glass and the ‘windows’ give her a unique opportunity to tell a different story with each new design Watch Now+
Box of Stars with Valerie Nesbitt
This is a great variation on the 54/40 Fight or Flight block that Valerie is so keen on. It’s taken from a commercial pattern by Stephanie Prescott and Valerie explains how to adapt it to use the Tri-Recs ruler for greater accuracy prior to sewing. Valerie has lots of other tips for you as this pattern is very precise and slightly challenging – but she thinks it’s definitely worth the effort Learn More+
Throwback Thursday
For Throwback Thursday this month we revisit Julia Gahagan and her Miniature Quilts – you’ll look at the scraps in your waste basket with a whole new interpretation after watching this – there could be a whole village in there! Julia shows us how easy it is to create delightful little pictures and landscapes with tiny pieces of fabric which are captured beneath a layer of chiffon/net. Held into place with glue to begin with , they are then held firmly by simple sewing – by hand or machine. Watch Now+
