Well here we are on the third Friday in January – still wet and windy in the UK – but there’s a lot here for you to enjoy:

Textile Moment

4_jh097-12-screen-printingUp new today is another workshop with Dee Paramour using the deColourant products – this time with thermofax screens (but remember you can use masks and stencils too) and any of you budding textile artists out there will enjoy this.  This is a non-toxic product that works like a bleach, but being non-toxic is very safe even for children to work with.   Great for textile artists and card makers too.

Home Dec Moment

4_jh085-20-finish-off-pipingJennie helps us with finishing off the piping on her cushion with a professional finish  – this is an extract from a longer workshop that is already on the site.

Modern Moment

4_jh105-02-oakshott-lakes-quiltLooking back to last week Valerie used her lovely bundle of Oakshott Fat 1/8th fabrics entitled Lakes to create the modern Lakeside Tower Quilt – and of course there are other lovely colour shades available from Oakshott too.   This is a simple to construct quilt and would quilt up easily too.

Scrap Moments

4_jh100-12-hexagonsEarlier in the month Carolyn Forster showed us how to sew, by hand and over papers, the Hexagon patchwork shape, which is therefore very portable and a great use of scraps. As you can see, even stripy fabrics get to be used very effectively.

And if you want to use up scraps Valerie had a simple quilt that used 2 ½” strips to create this lovely quilt – and in the tulip quilt she managed to use some really lovely border fabric to great effect too.

Inspiration Moment

Even though it was wet, I think you will agree that the visit to Cae Hir Gardens, in West Wales was worth it – some lovely quilts on display and there was much to enjoy in the traders tent too including an introduction for Valerie at least to the Peg Loom being demonstrated by Jacquie Jeynes of Pen Coed Textiles.

Don’t forget…

..to make sure that you can see our right-hand panel of goodies from the shop – if it hasn’t come through – tap on ‘download entire message/email’ at the bottom of this email.

Today we have featured a book on how to make mini-bunting and you can find out more on this subject too by using the quick links on the left hand side of the video/shopping pages.

Happy Sewing
