Workshops & Techniques
New today, we revisit a workshop with Angela Madden – Slice Up a Circle – which is her ingenious ruler to help you make stunning quilts and no maths involved! and there is an accompanying book too.
Lorna Bateman shares with us some of her passion for crazy patchwork, helping to choose fabrics and colours for her lovely pincushions.
These are available through the shop as kits, and there is a delightful instant download pattern for an embellished bag (which has a heart shape option too)
Think patchwork is old fashioned and takes ages? Well check out the modern quilt ideas from Valerie which are quick, easy and effective.
Out & About/Events
Quilts in Cae Hir Gardens exhibition will be held 1st 2nd and 3rd August in the beautiful RHS Partner Garden in West Wales. Check out the videos of our visit last year (it was a little wet in the garden but that didn’t deter us!)
While you are up in that part of the world you could pop over to Lampeter and visit the Welsh Quilt Centre and enjoy their current exhibition on Folk Art; you could also visit their lovely shop on the ground floor of the building (and there is a quilt shop next door but one called Calico Kate and inbetween there is a delightful coffee shop – just in case you need to leave your partner for a while!!!!!)
We filmed the previous Kaffe Fasett exhibition here, as well as visited the shop, which you can enjoy in the Out & About section of the site.
For more information on other events around the country don’t forget to check our Events page.
Site Upgrade Coming Soon:
From around 28th July, you will notice some changes to the shape of the video screen as we have been busy converting all the videos to a format that is more user friendly, especially for those on iPads and tablets: you should notice that the video screens are bigger and slightly higher up the page.
When you notice the change has happened, iPad and tablet users won’t have to use Puffin, but you can use your regular browsers if you prefer, (eg Safari on iPad, Internet on Android tablets) as you would for other websites you visit.
If you view on a normal computer, laptop or Mac, you continue to view as normal, but again the video screens are bigger and slightly higher up the page.
In the meantime, happy sewing
Valerie & Jennie
