Summer came and went and we are now into that time of year where the colours and fruits make us think of clocks going back and the days getting shorter – so more time for sewing! And the coming month we hope our videos and workshops will fill you with inspiration.
On the workshop front we have a Bargello tablemat (which would be perfect in Christmas colours) and allows you to try out the cylinder method of construction;
Lee Brown makes some faux chenille which she turns into some wonderful textured pieces of fabric and also a sweet little Tied Knot bag; Jennie shares with you her amazing Cosmic Happenings pattern – twiddled and fiddled in amazing colours; and there is more dyeing from Helen Deighan.
Towards the end of the month Mandy Shaw takes us round her workshop and shares with us her trick with using the ladder stitch to close up gaps.
Back in August we filmed at the Festival of Quilts and took the opportunity to learn more about the range of quilting machines that are on offer from The Cotton Patch Studio; they are the UK distributor for the Handi Quilter range of products and also offer workshops and tuition.
Talking about tuition we hope that you will enjoy our new Block of the Month Programme made with the lovely Rosebud Fayre range of fabrics mixed in with some Itsy Bitsy fabrics from Makower. Jennie and I have taken the opportunity to explain in part 1 (which will be up on the site on 14th October) how we came to design the quilt; thinking about the grain of the fabrics; choice of colours and then worked on the centre medallion construction. This is perfect for beginners but if you are a accomplished sewer/quilter then we do have some challenges along the way for you, so we hope you will join us too. This programme is all part of the subscribed membership, but if you want to see the taster this is obviously in the free-to-view section. https://justhands-on.tv/product-category/videos/block-of-the-month/
Gail Lawther has designed a completely new set of 6 patterns called ‘Enchanted Forest’ which she has kindly offered as a prize giveaway

This month’s Book of the Month is entitled ‘My First Sewing Book’ and contains 35 easy and fun projects for children aged 7 years and up. However, I just fell in love with so many of the projects that I think adults would love these too;
