Mystery Quilt still a hit
A quick note to say how much I enjoyed the Midsummer Mystery Quilt ... and although it's taken me a little while to finish it, here is a picture of the end result. I am thrilled with it. I'm going to do another one to fit my double bed because I like it so much. This is still available for you to work on - you just need to get a large bundle of 2 1/2" strips, and/or a jelly roll handy and you are ready to start.
Alzheimer Scotland pattern book
Ann Hill is a tireless supporter and fundraiser for Alzheimer Scotland; one of her recent projects was to arrange to cover the Hampden Park Football stadium turf with quilts -which she did!!!! (and we suggested a really quick and easy pattern for you to make: click here to enjoy: ) Another of her projects has been to produce this book of patterns entitled 'Scottish Quilt Patterns - which contains a wide variety of projects and patterns for you to follow.
Hand Quilting with Paula a great success
Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed Paula Doyle's video on hand quilting. I was transfixed throughout, her advice and tips so useful, a pleasure to watch and learn.
Thank you Paula and Justhands-on.tv
Take 9 a great success
Hi all Just giving an update on my king size quilt,I decided to try take nine for the side of quilt and cut all the pieces out ,this wasn't easy for me but I got there eventually,I purchased my fat quarters from Hobby craft in Havant & I just want to tell you not all of their fat 1/4s are good size some in the 6 packs are a bit smaller and I used some pieces from my stash.I have sewn 4 of my blocks together and am so chuffed with them - each 1 is exact size and went together so easily. Thanks Valerie for pattern and video couldn't have done it without you xxxxx from Sheila (learner) Want to know what Sheila was making?
Chris Porter and Mary Gamester join Valerie in the studio.
We had a great day as always and some great workshops were filmed; Chris shared with us her love of Flying Geese and Dresden Plates, for which she has designed her own templates, as well as showing us how to put a sleeve on the back of a quilt, which she personalises with text and lovely pics too. Valerie gets ready to sew some Yo-Yo's and Mary reminded us how great she is at transfer printing with woven strips, printing blocks and lace (all of which are in her book - Transfer Painting) so keep watching!
Perfect Mitred Border Corners
I have just followed Valerie's instructions for my first mitred corner borders. Wow, how easy is that!! Big thank you. My engineer husband has been saying for some time now that mitred corners would look so much better than straight stitching on borders, and he is right. They aren't perfect, yet, but more practice will do the trick.
Kind regards, Nicola If you too want to follow Valerie - just click here:
Hexagons, the Magna Carta and The Stitch Witch
what brings them all together? well a filming day with Justhands-on.tv of course. We were joined at the Legacy Hotel Hogs Back by Nancy from Lina Patchwork; Nancy is passionate about English Paper Piecing and she cuts out thousands of accurate paper pieces for us to purchase and use! She did a series of very comprehensive workshops for us - so keep an eye out for those.

My wish for 2015 is that all our viewers remain happy and healthy and have lots of time to sit back and enjoy our workshops and videos. Pause for that coffee or glass of wine and be inspired; we have lots of new contributors organised to be filmed - so here's to a great sewing year ahead for all of us.

Pizza Topping a success
I have just watched Valerie Nesbitt’s demonstration on making a Pizza Topping with scraps. What a very useful idea, I shall certainly be more frugal with my left over bits and bobs.
