Sampler Quilt – Block 1
Today is the first block of the Sampler Quilt – Rail Fence. This traditional pattern is a real favourite whether you use two colours or four. Valerie takes you through the techniques of rotary cutting and strip piecing; and then covers how to piece the little segments together and pin accurately so that you have accurate seams joining. Our Book of the Month for September is The Handmade Quilt by Carolyn Forster. It’s a complete skillbuilding sampler all made by hand with a very modern setting. Carolyn is the queen of scrap quilts and the quilt on the cover is no exception; all made by hand Carolyn takes you through all the steps, including the equipment needed, to make this.
As well as covering all the basics, there are 21 different chapters, covering different blocks and/or shapes, all in 144 colourful pages.

Looking for a scrap project this weekend?
