Description
In this video workshop Valerie talks you through the satinstitch method of applique for this traditional shape; it is assumed that this is fused applique but if you have no fusing medium (which will help with the fraying) then tacked into place will work just as well. Again this method assumes raw edge.

However, it may be that your machine has scissors inbuilt, in which case this won’t be possible; you might also like to investigate, those of you who have it, the locking stitch on the machine but bear in mind that this leaves a little knot on the back of your work which a) you might not like if it is the reverse of your quilt and b) you need to remember when you are trimming the threads – don’t cut it off!
