Description
Decorating your home for Christmas seems to have started earlier this year as we all need cheering up. There is still time to create more magic though.
Valerie has 3 Christmas projects for you starting with a lovely circular table mat. This would grace any festive feast. She has designed it to be very economical on fabric too. She also shows us how to make Christmas table mats using pre-printed panels as a focus. Finally, in our technique Thursday video she shows us how the stitch and flip method, which means the projects are quilted at the same time, can be used to produce Christmas stockings or place mats.
Anne Baxter is also in a Yuletide mood, creating her lovely Rudolph applique wall hanging. Gail Penberthy, still on a Christmas theme, brings us a wide variety of Redwork embroidery projects.
Two workshops that could work as gift ideas are the lovely Dog Rose pin-cushion workshop with Sylvia Critcher. This also comes as a kit and is our product of the month in December with free UK postage. Meanwhile Jennie Rayment suggests using up your scraps to create another useful pincushion.
For those in the learning mood, Jane Czaja, our crochet expert, shows how to work the three stitches that she says is all you will need to enjoy crochet yourself.
And finally sit back and enjoy this stunning display quilt which is made up of 31 pieces of textile art, inspired by BBC Radio 4’s famous shipping forecast and made by Delia Salter.

About the Tutor
Valerie is the founder and Creative Director of justhands-on.tv , as well as our very own ‘Queen of Scrap’. She founded Creative Quilting, a quilt shop in Hampton Court, where she still teaches to this day.
Jennie is a world renown quilt teacher, lecturer, author of nine quilt books and numerous patterns. From Houston to Qatar, Durban to Melbourne, Auckland and many other international cities, Jennie has wowed them all with her superb teaching style and hilarious lectures all laced with wit, charm and professional expertise.
Crochet is Jane’s passion. She is a technical editor for “Inside Crochet” magazine, and runs regular crochet workshops so others can learn and be inspired.
Anne has sewn all of her life, prolifically for the last 25 years. She works across a wide range of patchwork and appliqué techniques and designs — from the Navajo blanket quilt that includes simple and advance techniques to simple cushion designs.
Gail is an accomplished pattern designer and teacher. She loves to make three dimensional items as well as cushions, quilts and wallhangings. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys spending most of her time writing patterns and thinking up new and quirky ideas and how to make them.
Sylvia has established her own unique process for combining raised quilt and stitch techniques to create wonderful effects.
