Description

In this workshop Valerie has taken the traditional Churn Dash block, which is on a standard 9-patch square grid, and stretched the middle row so that that it becomes rectangles.

Since these sections are strip pieced they are still quick and easy to make, and will be cut from the same strip pieced section you have created.

As well as a variety of sizes, Valerie has used a variety of border options to give you inspiration.

This would also be a really lovely design created with scraps of fabric, maybe a different fabric for each of the Stretched Blocks. It takes surprising little fabric and if you have matching layer cakes and nickle packs, this would work too.

There are workshop notes for the subscribed viewers.

For the corners of the Church Dash Valerie likes to use the quick triangle method where you cut squares, and then trim back to being a perfect size. If you would like to see a fuller version of this, click here.

Valerie also mentions the possibility of a triple rail and 9-patch corners, which is an idea she shared on the Rosebud Fayre Block of the Month programme.
