Description
That August we re-visited a utterly unique event held some years back at The Festival of Quilts. Our video features complete coverage of the Fashion Sans Frontieres event. You can find this video by clicking here. Here, many of our leading quilters and patchwork artists turned their sewing expertise to extraordinary and unique clothing items. They showed them off to us on the fashion cat-walk in front of a huge live audience. We also went behind the scenes of this brilliant event in a separate and equally compelling film to learn how the garments were created – not to be missed. This video is available on our website, just click here.
That August also saw an exciting return to filming in a studio after months of lockdown. So, we started with an interview with Kate Findlay. She discussed her new applique kits, and next year’s Wild Gardens sewing retreat.
Also, in our technique Thursday video that month Valerie Nesbitt used Thangles to create perfect half square triangle units. You can open this video by clicking here. She also made a lovely star candle-mat which was our Product of the Month. The kit comes in two colourways.
Valerie was busy that month. She took you through making two sided quilts. This video is available on our website too, just click here. She also had a workshop entitled Box of Stars which uses one of her favourite blocks – Fight or Flight. To enjoy this video click here. Finally she teamed up with Jennie Rayment to discuss patchwork seams, in “Seams Common Sense”, to open click here.
Jennie herself brought us a new workshop using lovely clamshell patterns to create interesting designs for quilts or cushions. You can find this video here.
And for our crochet enthusiasts, Jane Czaja returned to our studios with her super Patch the Dog workshop which is a great way of using up scraps to create the individual squares. So, to enjoy this workshop click here.
