Description

Fast, accurate, and satisfying

I love this form of construction. It allows me to be fast and accurate and satisfies my need to sew. Also, Log Cabin works so well with all sorts of colors. You should keep in mind that the color split is diagonal: on one side are light colors, while on the other dark colors.

Lots of variations

There is a vast range of possible settings with this standard block. You can try some and see. They will depend a little on your color choice.

The best way to do this is to use a camera lens or door viewfinder, which can be found in any good home improvement store. This is great for quilting with light/dark tones – perfect for scrap quilts.

The most common settings seen are the Fields and Furrows, as used in the display quilt, and Barn Raising, the large triangle setting.

You can decide which fabric you consider to be light and which dark – indeed, the sharp-eyed amongst you might notice that the display quilt has the colors reversed – I wanted more the turquoise than the darker pink.
