What you can enjoy watching on the site in December 2012
An Exhibition to wander round We have started the month off with a wander round the Hope Quilters’ Exhibition that was held in Kent earlier in the year; this was a fantastic exhibition organised by Sylvia Critcher to showcase the work created (and finished!) by her students over the previous 3 years – and boy is there a lot of it! (so this is just part 1!) Still time to make things for Christmas As Christmas is just around the corner we thought you might like a couple of really quick ideas to help with making some wonderful woven cards (but these will be good for other occasions too) from The Stitch Witch plus a really quick last minute wall hanging decoration from Valerie.
Handing over more qults to Momentum
Major fundraising event for Momentum this weekend at the Kew Sparkle nr Richmond Surrey; lots of quilts will be available to purchase and here are just two that were donated: Momentum is a registered charity established in 2004 which aims to help children (up to the age of 17) and the families of children, undergoing treatment for cancer in Surrey and South West London.
Finding Ruby – A Patchwork of People
We are now looking for new people to join us and we would love to connect with other people, groups and communities and share our experience and some time learning and crafting.
The idea is to complete this work and the rose quilt plus another community quilt project by the end of 2013 and to design and produce a beautiful book and exhibition all about it.
A big thankyou from ‘Roses from the Heart’
For the past 7 years Christina Henri, artist in residence at the Female Factory in Hobart, has been orchestrating one of the world's largest art works. Now it is nearing completion and it is time to take it to the next level. This is going to support Hobart and help transform Tasmania into a powerhouse of creativity. I am writing to you because she has been in contact with you over the past few years.
Information on an App for Ipad users in Canada
Here is some information from a viewer in Canada who wanted to watch on her Ipad: I purchased the Photon app for $4.99 Canadian and it does the job. Thanks for your help and your very quick response. It's near midnight in my neck of the woods, so I only watched a short video. I'll jump in to more tomorrow. Leah Hope this helps others of you.
Quilt in a day at Bee Crafty
Join me for a one-day workshop at Bee Crafty - the craft shop just outside Huntingdon Cambs - in February to create a Log Cabin quilt (top!); I promise it will be fun and I promise you will learn a quick and easy way to make log cabin blocks. If you are a complete beginner this class is perfect - we will be choosing fabrics on the evening before - and if you are already a patchworker but haven't come across this amazing construction method you too should join us.
Join Carole Liebzeit for an exceptional class
Spaces are still available at Carol's class at Midsomer Quilting- Friday 16th November; Start with a colourful, simple pieced square and the fun begins! You will be using 3 inch and 3.5 inch square pieces of fabric in a nine patch format with colour strategies. Pieced squares form the corners, allowing you to ‘set’ your squares in a variety of so-called log cabin sets.
Happy sewing with friends in Bristol
Am at the Aztec West hotel just outside Bristol (part of the Shire Hotels & Spa group) with friends sewing for the whole weekend - how blissful is that: car issues on arrival but now all sorted. Here are Carol Liebzeit and Chris Porter busy with their work in Progress: Carol is due to teach at Midsomer Quilting next week - split 9 patch - which will be bright and zinggy - Carol's signature colours.

More filming for the site
We spent a very productive Sunday filming content for the site in the classroom of Creative Quilting (take a tour in the video). I was joined by textile artist, Valentina Brunn who shared with us some of her wonderful work as well as giving us a short workshop on how to create landscapes using bondaweb, paint and stitching – wait and see! She also uses tyvex to great effect and shows us how.
What you can view during November 2012
This is a five Friday month and we start off with a tour of Creative Quilting, the quilt shop just outside London and in the shadow of the Hampton Court Palace in Surrey; Isabelle shows us lots of lovely fabrics, threads, notions and her stunning Block of the Month quilt programme. We also have a new demo using the embellishing/needlefelting machine showing its versatility (and if you want to have a go you could join us and Myfanwy Hart at our weekend getaway 14-16 June 2013– more details in the classifieds).

Well the big move happened! and on the whole pretty smoothly; thanks to all those who helped test the site and pointed out typo's and other horrors. I thought I would share some of the nice comments we have had: I love your site for information and fun. Janice Brilliant – new website is great, much easier to navigate around, clear and packed with information.Thank you. Colours of Autumn
As quilters don't we just love inspiration: here are a couple that I wanted to share of the Buchart Gardens in Victoria BC, Canada:
Busy weekend sewing with the girls
A group of 8 of us had a wonderful time at the Ramada Inn Hotel on the Hogs Back; naturally we spent most of our time sewing so didn't really take advantage of the swimming pool/spa complex but we really enjoyed the food and the hospitality - which was excellent. What did we get up to? Well here is one that Margaret finished: and I managed to make a start using the new Sew Simple Pinwheels from Karin Hellaby (we are going to do this to camera - so keep watching!); it was fun and quick - just what I like as you know!
New Films in the can
Had a terrific day yesterday filming new content for the site: Matt and Dave were there of course and we filmed the various sections that will make up into Your First Sampler Quilt series; we used gorgeous fabric donated by Makower from their Botanicals range (for which we are very grateful) and we hope that the programme will appeal to both beginners and those with some sewing/patchwork skills as we give alternatives for each or the blocks.
