More trapunto and Sylvia’s version of French boutis to enjoy. This is part of our Throwback Thursday programme highlighting workshops from our archives.
English Quilting, Trapunto and French Boutis
This is a delightful workshop which covers English Quilting, Trapunto and Sylvia’s own version of French Boutis (or French style corded) work. These are all traditional stitching techniques but have been bought up-to-date by Sylvia and while traditionally worked in white, Sylvia has added colour both in the form of the fabric and the threads used (and you could use coloured wool to do the cording too).
A selection of patterns and kits for this technique are available in the shop, including the 1/4″ masking tape that Sylvia likes to use.
Trapunto wool is still available from Sylvia through the shop but only in the smaller size skeins.
Sylvia teaches a wide range of patchwork techniques, and you can contact her by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org in respect of teaching assignments. She is prepared to travel and has just come back from teaching at a patchwork retreat in Spain!
