Description
This seahorse kantha kit is stitched onto white cotton fabric with bright hand dyed threads.
The kit contains all the thread, fabric, full size A4 pattern, stitch diagrams and instructions to make a design comprising of a seahorse stitched in shades of orange. It is surrounded by a stitched design of water marks and seven strands of seaweed.
The kit uses the techniques of Kantha stitching, a technique that originated in India. This hand sewing kit uses the same techniques used hundreds of years ago; using a running stitch to create the seahorse design. Kantha is a very relaxing technique. Once the design is marked onto the fabric you don’t have to refer to the pattern.
You’ll be stitching the seahorse in two different shades of orange against a blue background and green seaweed strands. The outline of the seahorse is first stitched in whipped running stitch before being infilled with more running stitches. The written instructions give two different options on how to stitch the tummy of the seahorse. One is simpler than the other making this kit suitable for all levels of stitching ability.
