Description

A first in Wales

This is the first time ever that the American born artist Kaffe Fassett has exhibited in Wales. He is known for designing exquisite textiles, using colour in an explosive and dramatic fashion. He began with knitwear but has since worked with needlepoint, mosaics, rugmaking and quilting.

In this video

In this video Jen Jones guides us through some of the interesting highlights of this unique exhibition and the stories and fabrics behind the making of the quilts.

Kaffe is know for his vivid bold patchworks and if you visit the exhibition you will see how well they are displayed alongside the beautifully stitched antique Welsh quilts from the Jen Jones Collection, which we will be enjoying at a later date.

To contact the Welsh Quilt Centre call 01570 422 088 during opening hours (or out of hours: 01570 480 610) or email: quilts@welshquilts.com. More information you can find on their website by clicking here.

We also took the opportunity to wander round the shop that is also housed in that building, click here to enjoy.

Also we visited Jen’s wonderful quilt shop in which she stores her vintage Welsh Quilts. This video you can find by clicking here.

If you want to enjoy the amazing exhibition of antique welsh quilts that was running at the same time, click here.
