Fiona teaches knitting and sewing classes, and is the author of several bestselling knitting books, including: Knit Your Own Dolls, Knitted Animal Nursery, Knitted Animal Cozies, Knitted Animal Scarves, Mitts, and Socks, and Knitted Animal Hats. She started writing knitting patterns because she couldn’t find any that she really liked.

Fiona was taught to knit, crochet and sew by her aunt, grandmother – and the nuns at her local convent school. She’s had a project on the go ever since.

Before Fiona started knitting professionally, she was a charity worker, co-owned a copywriting and design agency, worked as a pottery decorator and ran an award-winning textile business making woollen throws and bags. She’s also worked as a political researcher and craft teacher.

Fiona lives in the UK, just outside London but overlooking a field of horses, with her husband and, sometimes, her student son.
