Description
Quick and simple to knit – and utterly adorable! This cheeky chap is knitted from just a single ball of Tinsel Chunky plus some yarn oddments for the face – who could resist this little fellow.
This gorgeous creature is knitted using just a single ball of King Cole Tinsel Chunky in shade Orangutan (yes really!) 1991. You’ll also need a small amount of standard chunky yarn in beige and light brown for the face and hands/feet. Yarns available from almost all yarn shops.
The pattern includes tips on knitting with Tinsel yarn and how to ‘yarn joint’ your toy.
The finished orangutan is 31cm/12.25in long.
You will need some standard chunky weight yarn in light brown and beige for the face and hands/feet. Plus you’ll need a small amount of DK/light worsted weight yarn in black for the mouth and nostrils. You will also need a pair of 10mm black plastic toy eyes and 40-50g (less than 2oz) polyester toy filling and a pair of 5mm (US8) knitting needles, a needle to sew your work together and a couple of large safety pins or small stitch holders.
The pattern is suitable for adventurous beginners upwards. You need to know the basics (casting on, casting/binding off, knitting and purling). You also need to know how to increase and decrease.
Note: the finished item is not suitable for children under three years of age.
As it’s an instant download you can get started straight away.
