Description

Quilt Art – a Group of Textile Artists

This exhibition was created for the Festival of Quilts exhibition as part of Quilt Art’s 25th anniversary celebrations for 2010. The 21 members challenged themselves to make quilts that departed from their customary format of large hangings. Each member tried to experiment and take risks. The quilts are small, long and narrow and some are three-dimensional.

This is a delightful exhibition and the guide is Janet Twinn, who is also teaches City & Guilds Creative Studies in Patchwork & Quilting.

More about Quilt Art

The group was formed 25 years ago by Inge Hueber who remains a member today. Firstly, the original members were from the UK, but now there are members from all over the world.

The group opened another exhibition at Bankfield Museum in Halifax called Quilt Art at 25. You can find some information about the quilts from this exhibition and from a Slice of Quilt Art in the book Quilt Art at 25. For more information on tour dates and venues you can check their website www.quiltart.eu.
