Finding Ruby – A Patchwork of People

We are now looking for new people to join us and we would love to connect with other people, groups and communities and share our experience and some time learning and crafting.

The idea is to complete this work and the rose quilt plus another community quilt project by the end of 2013 and to design and produce a beautiful book and exhibition all about it.

A big thankyou from ‘Roses from the Heart’

For the past 7 years Christina Henri, artist in residence at the Female Factory in Hobart, has been orchestrating one of the world's largest art works. Now it is nearing completion and it is time to take it to the next level. This is going to support Hobart and help transform Tasmania into a powerhouse of creativity. I am writing to you because she has been in contact with you over the past few years.

Information on an App for Ipad users in Canada

Here is some information from a viewer in Canada who wanted to watch on her Ipad:   I purchased the Photon app for $4.99 Canadian and it does the job. Thanks for your help and your very quick response.  It's near midnight in my neck of the woods, so I only watched a short video.  I'll jump in to more tomorrow. Leah   Hope this helps others of you.

Quilt in a day at Bee Crafty

Join me for a one-day workshop at Bee Crafty - the craft shop just outside Huntingdon Cambs - in February to create a Log Cabin quilt (top!);  I promise it will be fun and  I promise you will learn a quick and easy way to make log cabin blocks.   If you are a complete beginner this class is perfect - we will be choosing fabrics on the evening before - and if you are already a patchworker but haven't come across this amazing construction method you too should join us.

Join Carole Liebzeit for an exceptional class

Spaces are still available at Carol's class at Midsomer Quilting- Friday 16th November;     Start with a colourful, simple pieced square and the fun begins! You will be using 3 inch and 3.5 inch square pieces of fabric in a nine patch format with colour strategies. Pieced squares form the corners, allowing you to ‘set’ your squares in a variety of so-called log cabin sets.

More filming for the site

We spent a very productive Sunday filming content for the site in the classroom of Creative Quilting (take a tour in the video).   I was joined by textile artist, Valentina Brunn who shared with us some of her wonderful work       as well as giving us a short workshop on how to create landscapes using bondaweb, paint and stitching – wait and see!   She also uses tyvex to great effect and shows us how.

Contribution from Catherine in France

Hello, I have joined your club as I was looking for an idea to recycle men's ties. I did find your excellent project and have started working on it. I also want to show you the entirely handmade bed cover that I have just finished. It took me about 12 years. In 1994 I stopped working as an English teacher and joined the patchwork club of Alençon.

Log cabin by Lucy

Lucy is one of Val's students and was given patchwork classes as a gift (she chose these over a skydive!);  She had no knowledge of sewing or indeed a sewing machine and her first quilt was a Trip Around the World. This is her second quilt which was given as a Christmas present to her Mum and now proudly displayed on her bed.
