About Sylvia
Sylvia has established her own unique process for combining raised quilt and stitch techniques to create wonderful effects.
Sylvia see’s her role as helping to raise awareness of textiles so that they are on an equal footing with all other artefacts. Her mission is to keep alive lost skills, and to pass on traditional as well as contemporary techniques in any way possible.
Sylvia feels that exhibiting her work will help to eventually bring about a different attitude towards the value of textile art in society.

Sylvia’s Top Tips
- You should always quilt in a self colour that matches your background fabric, unless you are using a metallic thread.
- Remember to avoid fabric that is too dark because you will lose the 3D drop shadow effect.

Filming with Sylvia Critcher
What a great day we had with Sylvia learning about her new book and seeing all the wonderful samples she made for it. The book claims to have 10 projects in it, but the quilt alone has 9 patterns and then there is the winter table runner which I just fell in love with - full of snowflake patterns so great value for money - keep watching for the workshops!
