Corded and stuffed this is simple to make and lends itself to larger projects too.
Sylvia talks us through all the stages of making this charming little pincushion and points out that these steps apply to all her patterns and projects.
She talks through the materials she likes to use which includes needles, threads – and she is obviously a rebel here using machine threads and metallic! – the special wool from her own supplier which she likes to use for the corded work (and which is available through us here in the shop)
In this very comprehensive workshop Sylvia shows you how to mark your design on to the calico; use simple running stitches to create the channels; stuff the channels and shapes to create the trapunto and corded italian designs.
The quilt in the background she refers to is the Blue Dahlia quilt and is one of the projects in her book –Raised Quilt and Stitch
Sylvia has just agreed to join us on a workshop weekend in March 2017 at a hotel not far from Bristol; click here for more details:
Sylvia has established her own unique process for combining raised quilt and stitch techniques to create wonderful effects.
