This is a delightful little sewing caddy/pincushion designed by Sallieann Harrison with a seasonal christmas design created in fused felt applique.
In this workshop Sallieann talks you through some of the embroidery stitches she likes to use to hold the fused felt shapes into place. The pattern comes with all the templates you will need for the various shapes. These include the vine wreath, leaves and poinsetta flower.
She suggests using a simple cross-stitch over the vine, with perle 12 thread and size 22 chenille needles. She then moves on to suggesting a blanket stitch or over stitch for the leaves. We also get offered whipped back stitch for the leaf veins. Finally colonial knots on the poinsetta flowers create a really stunning effect.
Make sure that you catch her fantastic tip on how she threads her needle when using this thick perle thread.
