Carolyn shows us how to make this beautiful quilt from the bits and pieces that might otherwise end up in the waste bin – often called Laundry Basket quilts,
This delightful workshop is a great scrap quilt called Japanese Stars & Lanterns, and takes its inspiration from antique quilts which were often made with strips and/or strings. This patchwork can be worked by hand or by machine and is great for beginners too, since there is no accurate seam allowance needed.
For trimming up the squares a rotary cutting turntable might be something to think about and certainly investing in a 6 1/2″ square ruler makes life much simpler when cutting for a large quilt. – see our little video in the General Interest section about new rulers and the turntable. – if you would like to purchase one go to : www.creativequilting.co.uk
Carolyn is available for teaching assignments and lectures and can be contacted at: firstname.lastname@example.org
