We enjoy learning more about the conceptual art that Winy creates.
Winy Smit-Vuijk is a conceptual textile artist who explores themes dealing with motherhood, cancestors and relationships. In this knitted piece of work she represents her expanding family through the generations in which repeat patterns are recognizable but overlaid with the individuals’ characteristics; nevertheless a closely-knit family!
An example of Winy’s work entitled ‘Blue Swimmers’:
Winy is also the Managing Director of the Julia Caprara School of Textile Arts which offers a unique opportunity for distance learning for those interested in mixed media textile arts to obtain a degree course, and which is validated by Middlesex University.
