Description
The wonderful grandfather clock was the winer of the Quilt Creations section of the Festival of Quilts 2014 which was sponsored by VivEbooks.
Kate made the whole of the clock either from recycled bits and pieces – such as clock hands or from cardboard and foam board so while the item looks very heavy, it is infact very light.
Kate also tells about the colour and dye she used, since all the items started off white – and we get to see how much detail has been included not only on the front of the clock but also on the sides, which are stuffed full of shelves and mini items – quite delightful.
What Kate says about herself:
- I am a textile artist living and working in Oxford.
- I am an inveterate collector; a “snapper up of unconsidered trifles”. A bottle of sand from Petra, old books, clock parts, a stuffed crow line the shelves of my studio.
