Description

Dresden Plate – another traditional favourite. This is a multi-size template that works with strips, and you can use up 5″ charm packs too. The mini one works for jelly rolls or 2.5inch strips.

Grandmother’s fan is another great block that is possible.

The rotary cutter helps to cut several layers at a time. The modern sewing methods create the pointed top, which is already turned ready for adding to your background, since these designs are both sewn and appliqued. And because they are already turned, you could leave the tops that they flap.

Middle circle – easy quilting circle cut or sheet to create the perfect circle. Jennie talks through this together with more tips and design thoughts, and this works for the handle of Grandmother’s fan too.

Valerie used this template to create the centre block of the series entited Rosebud Fayre. And here is the link to our Grandmother’s fan workshop, and smaller size petals will come from 5″ charm packs.

Finally, Jennie uses this in Row 1 of her series – Jennie’s Stripy Stripey Story Quilt.

If you like to press the seams open, you might like to consider the strip stick.
