Your First Sampler Quilt
Now that Christmas and the holidays are out of the way, you can catch up with December’s blocks. With Ohio Star block 6, we are introduced to the quarter-square triangle – which means paying attention to the grain of the fabric and making sure that we have sufficient seam allowance for that additional middle seam when we sew all four triangles together. We need to have the grain of the fabric work with us so that our units are not built on the bias and therefore very stretchy. Watch Now +
With Block 7, Card Trick, you learn to be clever with colour – here the simple use of colour creates the lovely 3D effect of the cards. This is a very traditional block that used to be made with templates; however Valerie has redesigned the block so that it can be cut easily with the rotary cutter and this is made even easier by repeating one of the colours.
