Description

This traditional American folk art patchwork continues to have a wide appeal, particularly for those who like handwork.

The word ‘rugg’ is a little misleading as these were never made to grace the floor; they decorated table tops, trunks, dressers and even beds;  traditionally the American folk art patchwork was created by using up old clothing and cutting around the American Penny and Halfpenny.

Today we can still enjoy creating these small works of art to decorate our homes and as the work is created by hand, it is very portable.

Paula takes you through the various stages of designing, cutting out your shapes,  and using blanket stitch to hold the pieces in place;  she also talks through the type of thread she likes to use, and her favourite needles, PLUS a great tip on using vinyl to keep the placement of your pieces accurate.

For our subscribed members, Paula has kindly shared some patterns, which include some Christmas decorations. and which are available as free downloads,
