Description
Kate has made this delightful block in wool fabrics, but it would work equally well in cotton and she then adds texture with her handstitching.
Kate loves to include hand stitching with thick thread into her work and this block is no exception. The simple flower design has been worked in her favourite wool fabrics, but she talks you through some of the other options and what to look out for when considering using flannels and brushed cottons.
The applique shapes are fused into place and then embellished with the handstitching using chain stitch and/or blanket stitch. The fusing is necessary to stop the pieces fraying.
While Kate has made a quilt, you don’t have to – if one block is enough, then she offers some ideas for turning this into a finished project!
