Description

Learn more about how to select your fabrics on tone rather than colour when making a traditional laundry basket scrap quilt.

In this workshop Valerie talks about the difference between colour and tone and how to select your fabrics for this traditional scrap quilt;  how to determine what is light, medium and dark and therefore the colour value.

The quilt itself is made up of two blocks – one which uses smaller pieces cut from 2 1/2″ squares and strips, so would work really well with any jelly roll leftovers you have; but the other blocks requires bigger pieces approx 7″ so you would need to raid your stash for those!

Valerie shows you how to make both these blocks, and uses her preferred method of one-size squares and half-square triangles by using the Thangles product (which is avaialble in the shop).

If you enjoy making your scrap quilts by hand, both the fast piecing techniques Valerie shows can be adopted by you – just take care when trimming back.
