Description

The word ‘rug’ is a little misleading as these were never made to grace the floor. They decorated table tops, trunks, dressers and even beds. Traditionally the American folk art patchwork was created by using up old clothing and cutting around the American Penny and Halfpenny.

Today we can still enjoy creating these small works of art to decorate our homes. Also, as the work is created by hand, it is very portable.

Paula shows the various stages of designing, cutting out shapes, and using blanket stitch to hold the pieces in place. She shows the type of thread she likes to use, and her favourite needles. In addition, a great tip on using vinyl to keep the placement of your pieces accurate.

For our subscribed members, Paula has kindly shared some patterns, which include some Christmas decorations.
