Description

Jennie shows how this long hexagon can replace the regular hexagon shape and then creates interesting variations to traditional patterns.

She also shows how to sew these together without the ‘Y’ seam, simply by adding 60 degree triangles you get a lovely straight seam to sew, whether by hand or by machine.

Jennie gives a really good tip about checking the grain of your triangles when you add them to the long hexagon shape which will avoid having stretchy patchwork.

In addition, if you really like to press the seams open, you might like to consider the strip stick – a great little gadget that isolates the seam for you.

You could work these shapes together with a 60 degree diamond and over papers in the traditional English Paper Piecing fashion.
