Description

A modern approach

Hexagons are a traditional shape in patchwork, but Jennie doesn’t do papers, so here is a modern view of creating the Grandmothers Flower Garden rosette. Then, she uses the satin-stitch machine to sew the shapes onto the cushion front.

Rotary Cutting

In the workshop notes, you will see that she cuts the shapes with the rotary cutter (and therefore uses the EZ template to keep her safe); you also learn the order of sewing so that you don’t have lots of ends to finish off (another great tip from Jennie).

Machine foot

If you have the correct machine foot, it is much easier to do this sort of applique work: check that yours has a cutaway underneath and an open toe to see where you are going. If you need to, you can shop with us to get one that fits low-shank sewing machines. Click here
