Throwback Thursday from the archives : Jennie Rayment shows how to tilt your sewing machine
Description
Tilt your Sewing Machine
Keep backache at bay. See your sewing more clearly with this helpful tip. Particularly good for those wearing bi or varifocals.
Jennie teaches a wide variety of classes for all levels and abilities of sewers, from patchworkers, quilters, and embroiderers to fashion, soft furnishing, and home décor enthusiasts.
Her amazingly ingenious textural designs will captivate anyone interested in needlework. People can take advantage of her magic manipulations’ wealth of creative ideas.
She often creates work in simple calico, called muslin in America. You can make quilts, wall hangings, boxes, baskets, cushions, and table linen.
She works and teaches on various sewing machines from Bernina Husqvarna and Pfaff to Brother, Janome, and Elna. But, she creates her delectable creations by hand.
With six books on fabric manipulation techniques – all still in print, many articles, and a variety of patterns, including a twiddled and fiddled Block of the Month quilt, Jennie’s material magic goes on and on.
She exhibits her work in numerous galleries, shows, and exhibitions worldwide. Rather than zagging around the world, she prefers to manipulate and assemble bits of fabric into fascinating, innovative designs and patterns by ‘nipping, tucking, twisting, and fiddling.’ In between, she makes quilts, garments, and other tucked-up treasures.
