With the turning back of the  clocks and the evening drawing in, there is no better excuse to start a new project.

Valerie Nesbitt brings us a seasonal patchwork quilt called Autumn is Calling. She uses fabric that lives up to its name. She makes the quilt with the simple snowball block and some thangles for the half-square triangles.  Later in the month, she shares with us another super easy quilt for beginners –  the  Take Five block. Here she will use squares and rectangles large enough to showcase the beautiful fabric you are using.

For those who like handwork, we are joined by Angela Daymond showing her Big Stitch hand quilting technique; for crochet fans, Jane Czaja is back in the studio with her expertise, this time showing us her Sugar Plum crochet blanket; Paula Doyle gets busy Painting with Pens in a textile workshop, which would be super to get the younger generation involved with. Jennie Rayment shares with us  this striking  stained glass patchwork workshop.

Our  Beginners Sampler Quilt series with Sallieann Harrison concludes this month. The final block is Ohio Star patchwork and then Sallieann talks us through the laying out, sashing and borders – all using the wonderful Forest Fruits colour range of fabrics from Oakshott.

Finally, our technique Thursday workshop is a brilliant introduction to Redwork embroidery from Gail Penberthy of Endless Thread Designs.
