With all her teaching and talks and quilt shows (such as The Festival of Quilts) cancelled or postponed since the end of March, Gail wondered what she was going to do stitchwise as she and her her husband, Chris were shielding from Covid.
Well – the good news for all her followers, is that she has got the next couple of booklets in her ‘Gail’s Quick Quilts’ series in the pipeline.
She has also been very busy with a couple of banner/wallhanging commissions. We thought you’d love to see them:
The first was a wonderful opportunity to produce a large (3m x 2.6m) hanging for a primary school near Guildford, Surrey. She says it was great fun to design – though the size made it a real challenge to assemble, even in her spacious workroom. She was hugely helped by Tanya from Little House of Patchwork who allowed her to go and use her shops long-arm quilting machine for a couple of days. You can see the result below.
The second was a smaller banner for a church, depicting St Michael at Prayer. It is much smaller than the previous one, and totally different in style.
Gail is a very talented lady indeed. If you’d like an original Gail-stitched quilt she has both smaller and larger pieces by her available on her Quilts for Sale website page. Or if you want to commission a piece, or a church banner do Get in contact via her website at https://gaillawther.co.uk/
