This simple knitted doll represents the iconic Mexican artist, often remembered for her mono-brow.   The Frida Kahlo Doll will use up scraps of dark/light worsted/8ply wool yarn. It is knitted flat on a pair of short (15cm) needles.  You can use bits and bobs from your cupboard to create her jewellery.

The finished size for the adorable doll is 27cm or 10.5in and is available as a knitting pattern.

It is suitable for intermediate knitters and a great way to use up your yarn oddments!

More About Frida Kahlo:

Mexican artist Frida Kahlo is famous for her self-portraits, and bold vibrant colours. Her depiction of Mexican and indigenous culture are central to her fame.  She is much admired by feminists for her representations of the female experience and form.

Kahlo, who suffered from polio as a child, nearly died in a bus accident as a teenager. She suffered multiple fractures to her spine, collarbone and ribs, a shattered pelvis, broken foot and dislocated shoulder. In her lifetime, she underwent 30 operations. Whilst recovering in a body cast, she began to focus heavily on painting.
