Description

Roy Dickinson: A Man in a Woman’s World

In 2010 Roy was the only man in the UK to have successfully completed City and Guilds Parts 1 & 2.

He is well known for his award winning quilts and in this video you get to enjoy several pieces of his work, including the double sided Venetian. Roy likes to work on projects that tell a story and is interested in using light and shade. As you will see, he isn’t afraid of including embellishment in his work. Roy’s quilt “Infinity and Beyond” won in the Art and Embellishment categories at the National Patchwork Championships at Sandown in 2010.

Pat Deacon:  Embroiderer, Quilter and Teacher

Pat is another City & Guilds graduate and here we get to enjoy quilts in a series entitled ‘Discovering the Rainbow’.

She began her quilting career with traditional piecing and machine quilting. However, Pat very quickly began exploring different techniques and pushing the boundaries. She had always been a doodler and with a background in mathematics she began exploring abstract shapes. In particular, it was circles and curves. You will see that it is the combination of these abstract geometric shapes and bold colours that now characterize her work.

We visited this show back in March  2010.  For more information on this annual show run by Grosvenor Shows visit website by clicking here.
