Textiles in Focus

In part 1 of our visit to the Textiles in Focus exhibition that was held in Cottenham, Cambs, we are introduced to Pauline Verrinder, who is not only the organizer of this event, which has now been running for 12 years but also the mentor and teacher for several of the groups who were exhibiting.

Pauline was also kind enough to give us a short demonstration of making skeleton-style leaves for seed heads by simply using the free motion stitch on the machine and some old scrim fabric. My Mum used that for washing windows, but this is a much prettier use!

Fan Edge Textiles

Fen Edge Textiles had an exhibition running in Wisbech.

Outward Images

We meet with Camilla from Outward Images, hooked on extreme knitting and crochet. For more detail, click here.

Art Van Go

Art Van Go are suppliers who have everything and anything that the textile artist might want. We enjoy meeting and talking to Sharon Osborne, a beautiful textile artist who shares some of her creative inspiration from her ‘Whatever’ book.   She teaches from time to time at the Art van Go Studios, and to  get more information, click here:

Colouricious

We also caught up with Jamie Malden from Colouricious, who was busy rubber-stamping BUT also using the colorant products and showing us how to combine a simple stamped image with some simple embroidery stitches and beads – stunning results.
