Gail Penberthy creates a simple strip pieced tree skirt, which could also work as a table centre.
Description
Gail talks you through some of the stages to make this lovely tree skirt or table centre. She also gives you some things to think about when constructing it . She spent a whole weekend with us at one of our retreats. The students made the skirts too and we all had great fun.
Made from simple strip piecing, you do need to pay attention to your seam allowance. Gail gives you some handy tips on how to keep your sets from bowing into a rainbow (Subscribers can enjoy watching Valerie talk about avoiding the rainbow effect in another workshop by clicking here);
There are more tips from Gail on cutting the pieced triangles which have full templates in the pattern; marking up your ruler and putting the triangles together. Don’t worry about the funny shape – you can just pause the video and check you have them right before sewing.
More tips from Gail on how to get the centre point perfect; quick turning the project so there is no need for binding, and also adding ric-rac for that extra bling.
