Description

August is Festival of Quilts month at the NEC and many of our contributors will be there as well as some stunning quilt so we thought it would be an opportunity to show you the amazing  series of contemporary quilts made by Kate Findlay. Her work was inspired by the Large Hadron Collider and the extraordinary science surrounding it.

We also have 4 brand-new tip videos featuring textile artist Dionne Swift with her advice on colour and Claire Campion, our expert quilter, promising that you won’t ruin your quilt by quilting it.

Jennie Rayment returns with this fun Fat Cats template to create blocks and bags. And still on the subject of Bags, our new guest tutor Anita Birtles is showing Valerie how she transforms orphan patchwork blocks into a really useful tote bag which she can then use as a gift or indeed to hold a gift (instead of wrapping it).

Our  technique Thursday video for August is this Templates 101 introduction from Carolyn Forster as she takes us through the basics of using acrylic templates which are designed for use with the rotary cutter and  for both hand and machine patchwork.

This month we also get to learn about a brand-new knitting series from our expert Daphne Morris as she shows us the amazing knitted sampler throw she has designed. The episodes on how to create all nine blocks with just a  knit stitch and a purl stitch will be coming up this autumn.
