Spend two days with Karen Crookes of Sunflowerstitches building blocks to create this beautiful Sentiments quilt filled with words of empowerment, embroidery and applique.
The weekend is ideal for beginners through to those with more experience. You will learn how to put together base blocks using a log cabin style pattern. Then, we will move onto embellishing the blocks using techniques such as raw edge applique, hand embroidery and free motion embroidery.
Don’t worry if some of these skills are new to you, full tutoring will be provided every step of the way.
The weekend allows you to make as many blocks as you would like – which can be used for cushions, table runners or a full quilt. The choice is yours! The cost for the pattern is included in your fee.
A weekend retreat for £470 per person
Classes will take place in the hotel from 10 – 4 on Saturday and 10 – 4 on Sunday AND you can sew until late, late, late on Saturday evening if you want.
Lunch and refreshments will be served both days including a buffet lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast and a buffet lunch on Sunday.

The DeVere Horsley Estates, East Horsley, Surrey
The DeVere Horsely Estate will be our home for the weekend. Located in acres of Surrey parkland, this is a unique hotel and retreat complete with a gym, pool, and terraced lawn with lake that are ideal for wandering and relaxing and exploring. The conference area combines neutral tones and natural light to create a fresh and energising backdrop. The modern bedrooms, all recently refurbished with bold tones and contemporary décor, still offer glimpses of the original stonework of the old stables.
And it’s easy to get to. Close to Guildford, 5 miles from J10 of the M25 and with direct train routes into London Waterloo. Parking is free.
